Meet Eric
The Siberian
Eric is our adorably fluffy, very playful, full of character Siberian
He was the driving force behind our business and why we changed to raw feeding.
After Eric suffered a blocked urinary tract I started to look into his diet as I needed to increase his fluid intake and this started on my journey of cat food discovery.
I realised the food I had been giving him had 4% protein and as I was spending a small fortune on so called premium cat foods that weren't really that great at all.
I started to make bone broth and adding bits of meat & mince to his diet I transitioned him onto raw and he is happy, healthy and eats his raw meals now everytime.
Meet Ebony
The Shadow
Ebony is our beautiful, elegant, and petite little Bombay cat
She is our son's best friend and is his loyal little follower everywhere he goes.
Ebony will not get out of her bed in the morning if the food I serve is not to her liking - she has a very high bar!
She would eat nothing but shredded chicken at one point which wasn't complete and I struggled to find a food that she would eat consistently.
It did take a while to get to her eat her raw but with a couple of treats on the top of every meal she cleans her plate and skips into the kitchen every meal time. Its lovely to see her enjoying her food now.

  • Our Pet Food Journey
This is Eric as a kitten where our cat food journey began 8 years ago.
Since then we have tried many many brands of commercial food and not only was it working out quite expensive there was a lot of meals that just went in the bin.
As I started making bone broth and adding minces and meat I felt that transitioning to a raw diet made sense.
I could control what went into my pets food and knew there was nothing added that didn't need to be there- no fillers, no additives and a much better quality of meat.

  • The starting point of Eric & Ebony's Raw
Starting with Raw I did feel overwhelmed by the information out there online. I was baffled with long lists of what you needed to make raw diet balanced and conflicting discussions over what was meant to be in raw pet food. That discussion is still rumbling on.....
I felt the easiest option to start would be premixed ground minces but when I tried a few different commercial raw brands I either ran into delivery problems or my cats went off it fairly quickly. I just felt the meat wasn't as fresh as it could be and the content was very varied. Some companies use alot of cheaper cuts of meat like lung - not nutritionally bad - it is high in protein and low in fat, but it makes the food slimy in texture so this created another hurdle to get over when trying to get Eric & Ebony to eat it.
Ebony really does prefer a good old chew so it made us realise the importance of texture and the feel good factor that feeding on raw meat gave our pets - it wasn't always about nutritional value.

So eventually after testing and searching we found the best grade ground meat and Eric & Ebony's was born!

Our cats are happy and hope your cats and dogs will be too!

Preset Menu Cat Boxes
We have put together a Preset Menu Mixed Box specifically for Cats who require more taurine in their diet and often enjoy a slightly lower 7% bone ratio. These boxes contain 10 454g packs and are to be defrosted and mixed all together which will provide this cat specific diet as well as enabling you to add in anything extra you may wish to add and you can also split into smaller daily feeding portions for easier defrosting.

Preset Menu Mixed Boxes
We have also put together a selection of Preset Menu Mixed Boxes which make it easier for you to mix the individual packs to give you an 80/10/10 ratio. These are suitable for cats and dogs although we do recommend for cats alternating with the cat specific boxes as they contain more heart for their taurine intake.

Why we do not premix all of Eric & Ebony's Raw Foods

When we were first feeding commercial premixed raw foods to our cats we found some packets we opened weren't as fresh as they should have been.
The fresher the meat the less odour- especially so with fish, and some were a bit more ripe than my nose could take!
So for Eric & Ebony's we wanted to keep the processing of your pets food to a minimum.

The pet food manufacturing process is this-
The meat from the abattoir goes to the wholesaler who process and freezes the food, it is then distributed to the pet food manufacturers who then defrost it and make it into the various mixes and recipes. It is then refrozen and distributed to the reseller or to you the customer.
We wanted to keep this process to a minimum to maintain the freshness of your product and so we are not defrosting, mixing and repackaging but supplying it direct to you.

This also means that you are in control of what is added to your pet food, no middle man manufacturer adding in extra lower grade meat, additives or fillers they don't need.
Mixing at home also means you can make sure your pet is getting a varied and complete diet by giving you the opportunity to add the things they do need - add fresh veggies, eggs and fish and supplements.
What you are getting with Eric & Ebony's is the best grade quality ground meat - no added fillers or grains.
